Where Were We Living? > Double/Triple Fronted Brick Veneer 1960 - 1970
The 1960's really saw the beginning of suburbia. The introduction en-masse of the double & triple fronted brick veneer homes found in the Western suburbs generally between the 10km – 20km radius enroute via Ballarat Road (Western Highway) from Melbourne CBD.
Although ornate features were not prevalent and many considered these homes lacking in design, they did offer many variations. Double or triple fronted, from very light coloured bricks to dark coloured brick. It was also the beginning of the end of 2 bedroom homes, most (if not all) were at least 3 bedrooms obviously catering for what we know now as the baby boom era. It was also the era where building a garage or carport was common.
